A cross party group of parliamentarians, chaired by Alicia Kearns MP, working to advocate for British citizens arbitrarily detained abroad and held for leverage in
State relations.

Supporting British Citizens in Arbitrary Detention abroad

The APPG coordinates support across Parliament for British citizens arbitrarily detained for leverage, and advocates for the UK Government to protect their rights and bring them home.

Advocating for a Specialised Office

The APPG  builds on advocacy to follow up on the Foreign Affairs Committee’s report and recommendations to appoint a Director within the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on Arbitrary Detention.

Creating a Global Advocacy Network

The APPG works with like minded parliamentary groups worldwide to advocate on specific cases, and against this worldwide trend of hostage diplomacy.

Providing support to Affected Families

The APPG acts as a platform to raise the voices of the families of those arbitrarily detained, to advocate to bring their family members home, and put pressure on the UK Government to respond to this issue.
