About the event

On Tuesday 26 November from 9.30 - 11.00am, the APPG will hold its next hearing on British citizen detained in Egypt, Alaa Abd El-Fattah in Committee Room 2A. The hearing is part of the APPG's ad-hoc inquiry into the cases of British citizens arbitrarily detained and held for leverage by foreign Governments. 

 

Speakers will include:

  • Laila Suief, mother of Alaa Abd El-Fattah, currently on hunger strike in protest of his ongoing detention.

  • Omar Robert Hamilton, Alaa's cousin and campaigner. 

  • John Casson, former British Ambassador to Egypt (2014-18) - via video message.
